英語タイトルのSMART KITTY LITTER BOXは「ハイテク猫用トイレ」です。ここでのsmartには、トイレが「ネットに接続されている」という意味と、猫が「お利口な」という意味が重ねられています。
電機メーカーのシャープが鳥取大学と共同で、ものをインターネットにつなぐ技術（ＩｏＴ）を活用した猫用のトイレを開発しました。尿の量などから、ペットのデータを計測して健康状態を見えるようにするというものです。
