The group says it surveyed more than 1,400 students. Iwasaki says tuition is a key consideration for about 60 percent of them when choosing their school and field of study. She says 40 percent of the respondents believe that repaying their loans will affect their decisions concerning their future.
The current Diet session is set to start discussing a bill that would establish scholarships for students from low-income households. The group wants eligibility expanded for the assistance.

彼らによると、低所得家庭の学生たちは学費の支払いをするうえで苦労しているとのことです。
解 説
low-incomeは「低所得の」という形容詞です。反対語は、high-income「高所得の」で表せます。
struggleは「苦労する」という意味です。
tuition は「学費」です。tuition feeとしても「学費、授業料」です。make a tuition payment、あるいはmake tuition paymentsは「学費の支払いをする」という意味になります。

日本における高等教育のほとんど全ての資金援助が、貸し付けの形式をとっています。
解 説
financial assistance は「資金援助」です。
higher education は「高等教育」です。ちなみに、「初等教育」ならprimary education、「中等教育」ならsecondary educationと言います。
in the form of ...は「～の形式で」という意味です。
loanは「貸付金、ローン」のことです。

解 説
大学教育の無償化を求めて活動している学生グループの代表を務める岩崎詩都香さんの言葉を訳したものです。岩崎さんは、高い学費や奨学金という名の借金をせざるをえないことへの苦労を訴えました。
ここでのdisguiseは「見せかける」という意味です。

解 説
Dietは日本の「国会」です。ちなみに、アメリカの議会はCongressで、そのほかにparliamentを使う国も多くあります。
ここでのsessionは「会期」という意味で、current Diet sessionは「今国会」です。ちなみに「臨時国会」なら、extraordinary Diet sessionと言います。
billは「法案」です。可決されたものが、law「法」となります。
establishは「創設する」です。
householdは「世帯」です。
今国会では、返還不要な給付型奨学金を低所得者世帯に限って支給する法案を議論する予定です。
