極めて強い重力で光をも吸い込む天体・ブラックホールの輪郭を、日本などの国際研究グループが世界で初めて捉えることに成功したと発表し、画像を公開しました。

An international group of scientists, including those from Japan, says it has successfully captured the first-ever image of a black hole.
The black hole is at the center of a galaxy known as M87, some 55 million light years away from Earth. It has a mass about 6.5 billion times that of the sun.
The group of scientists used an array of eight radio telescopes in six locations around the globe to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope. They converted the resulting data into an image to get the first photograph of the dark edge of a black hole.

"For the first time since Einstein published his theory of relativity 100 years ago, there is visual proof of the existence of black holes. This picture is crucially important."
Observers say the latest revelation is expected to contribute to solving some of the mysteries of black holes and offer clues to the birth of the galaxy and the universe.

that of のthatは、the massを指しています。the mass of the sun「太陽の質量」です。
