Taiwan's air force has conducted a drill using a highway to simulate a response to an attack by Chinese jets on its airfields.
The landing-and-takeoff exercise involved 13 aircraft, including a U.S.-made F-16 and a French Mirage 2000. The highway was closed during the operation, and all of the traffic signs were removed beforehand. It was part of an annual five-day military exercise, and the first time a landing-and-takeoff drill has been held since Tsai Ing-wen became president in 2016.
